The subject of the role played by music in mental health and wellness dates as far back as king Soul and David. Legend has it that the king had a mental illness, or depression which only lifted when he heard music being played on the harp. The serene sounds of the harp, played by David felt comforting and soothing that the king would send for him to be summoned to play, no matter where he may have been at the time of the king’s affliction. Today, music is still considered as one of the greatest tools in the management of mental health disorders such as bipolar mood swings and depression. I have been using music as
therapy for quite some time now. Here, I share my favourite music, which has helped me relax and cope with a stressful day.
