There has been endless debates on the meanings and effects of the color black. Over the centuries and different cultures and customs, it has been given widely varied meanings and annotations, sometimes, to the point of direct conflict with each opinion. But still, there are those of us who still advocate for this mysterious color and we have our reasons for it. First off, the color black exudes power, elegance, formality, mystery, strength and authority. Its no wonder most politicians, business people and public speakers are often seen wearing black on official engagements.
Women love men in black because of the authority and strength often depicted with men dressed in this way. They are often thought of to be wealthy, educated and rich.
To be fair to the other side of the debate, the color black, has for some centuries been associated with negativity. Think the black cat, black magic, black knight and the list goes on. Even today, there is still some negativity that is related to it. black is often the color that is worn in funerals because it is associated with grief, sorrow and loss, depression, This should not scare anyone away from draping themselves and their surroundings with black. You can use it to your advantage.
Wear that smoldering black number to that dinner date and entice your partner in the most magnificent and mysterious way. Want a new car? have it in a shiny black color and have every one call you Mr money bags! Have an invite to a swanky do? Wear black and let every one see that you can be as dignified and diplomatic when the occasion calls for it. Be careful of your feelings before surrounding your self with black though. Even though dark colors are glamorous and all, they will simply do no good for you if you are already in a dark or depressed mood.
There are different shades of black that you can use to play around. Each shade can be employed in a different setting and situation to suit your needs. Shades of black range from Cafe noir, or black coffee, to chicory, charcoal, jet black, onyx, black olive, phlathalo green, Charleston, Eerie, carbon black, midnight blue, super-black and even Davy's grey. This reminds me of one summer summer afternoon, I hang out my laundry to dry after having done it by hand all day, the whole three lines were in black. Still a teen then, that was the day I discovered that I am a super-fan of black! Before I forget, its the combination of black with other colors that give them their true meaning in different settings. Think a black and gold ball gown, black and white piano, black and red fancy car and black and green flowers and black cookery and cutlery.
